A beautiful sad song to remind us what some go thru to enjoy what many take for granted. That photo of the little girl touching the window as her mother looks over her shoulder is so touching.
Indeed. And what is even sadder is that despite all the years that have passed since the song was written, the problem still remains.
I’m a big fan of this song, which may have been written (or at least popularized) by Arlo’s old man. I’ve got a great version by Cisco Houston and also one by the Highwaymen which is partially in Spanish. Often such an obvious device can be an embarassing stab at authenticity, but it works in this instance.
I don’t know the versions you mention, but I’ll see if I can’t find them now. Thanks.
