Well, Tom, you hooked me and reeled me in. Great tune. ;-)
Glad to hear!
Love this style/era of jazz (: (very nice recording)
Just beautiful music.
Me, too. My favorite era. What albums or artists from that time period do you especially like? If I haven’t heard them, I’ll have a listen.
Just offhand, and not all exactly that style, but within the parameter (and sometimes wildly beyond it; read Miles Davis): Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Paul Desmond, Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker.
Brubeck and Desmond it’ll be.
I was just listening to Getz yesterday:
Getz, Brubeck, Desmond and Miles Davis are probably my absolute favourite jazz musicians, though I’m loath to make such confining, categorical commitments.
Beautiful bit of Getz… I did a piece based on this very tune: http://orijinalchris.com/2013/08/07/nightingale-berkley-squared/
While Coltrane and Evans are no doubt my favorites, there are so many great artists out there.
By the way, I’m making good use of your recommendation by listening to Desmond’s Glad To Be Unhappy.
Chris, Brubeck’s been on the turntable – words fail. Enjoying his music immensely.
