An Explanation

For those of you who have Watercolors you might be wondering where The Hatchet is in your collection.  Sorry to say you won’t find it anywhere.  I inadvertently wrote a sketch on a poem that’s not in the collection.  I hope not to do that again, but you know the mind is not what it once was…

By the way, here’s the poem:

The Hatchet
I cannot tell a lie:
the tree’s blossoms
never lost their scent;
the cherries
grew
and then
were picked.

For readers in the U.S., the poem should be self-explanatory.  For others are who aren’t familiar with the story, have a look here.

Do they still have portraits of George Washington in elementary school classrooms?  They did when I was young.
